Lichfield Canticle Programme First performance: 16 December 1972

Lichfield Canticle is a choral work of major proportions, inspired by the historical fact of Lichfield Cathedral being dedicated to the Virgin Mary and St Chad. The work is built around the principal events of St Chad's life.

Written for SATB chorus, boys' choir, three soloists (soprano, tenor and baritone), chamber organ and orchestra.

What People Say

‘The chorus was responsive throughout, and made both the reflective and dramatic parts of the text come alive with a notably splendid bass line’.
